AROHA - The Turaki Way
Our school is a PB4L (positive behaviour for learning) school. We are focused on teaching and recognising the behaviours that help to create life long learners that will become positive members of the community. The Turaki Way is to show AROHA in all aspects of school and the community. We believe that promoting these values will enable our students to become truly valuable members of our community, now and in the future.
All students receive AROHA tickets as they show the Turaki Way at school. These tickets are added together to win class rewards. There are also big prizes at the end of each term, including an iPad at the end of the year!
Aroha is a hugely powerful word in te reo māori. While the basic definition of aroha is love, there is a lot more to it when broken into parts.
ARO - thought, life principle, paying attention, to focus on, to face or front
RO - inner, within, introspection
HA - life force, breath, energy
OHA - generosity, prosperity, abundance, wealth
