WELCOME TO ROOM KĀREAREA
Talofa lava everyone,
Room Karearea is one of four Year 7/8 Hauora classes at Turaki Primary School. This year Miss O’Reilly and I are excited about working collaboratively in the Karearea/Kereru learning space.
Our students are involved in leadership roles such as, being a House Leader, being a PB4L Student Rep, organising Breakfast in Schools, Fruit in Schools, being a PE shed monitor and organising interclass sport. All students work together to run a range of activities and events throughout the school.
Our day starts and finishes in our Hauora class, as well as coming together at morning tea and lunchtime to eat.
Otherwise we attend core learning workshops in smaller classes of about 20 students.
In team Te Mahuri we work on student led learning, student agency and student choice meaning that students take Ownership of their own learning. Te Mahuri is also digital, with all students having access to an iPad, chrome book or laptop to complement their learning, while still completing book and written work.
We are very fortunate to have Mrs Sharee Mills working in team Te Mahuri with our students who need a bit of extra 1-on-1 teaching time to help them with their learning. She engages students in their learning through exciting activities and learning experiences. She enjoys helping students learn about different life skills such as cooking and social skills, while also doing literacy and numeracy.
This year we have Mrs Samantha Kereopa joining our team as our release teacher. We are very excited about all that Mrs Kereopa will bring to our team and school.
All students will be using Seesaw so whanau will be able to see what we are doing in the classroom.
We look forward to sharing our learning with you all throughout the year.
