Kia ora Turaki whānau,

I am Miss Ngatai and will be happily teaching in Room Weka for 2021. I’m excited to be a part of Te Mahuri this year with Miss L and Miss Higgs.

Room Weka is one of three Hauora classes for Team Mahuri, our year 7 and 8 team. The Te Mahuri teacher’s all want the best for our students and hope that we can encourage them to aim high and achieve their goals. We will have high expectations for our students this year as they will be taking on leadership roles, and being role models for Turaki School. We want them to always put their best foot forward in everything that they do.

While Te Mahuri has our hauora classes, we will also be rotating in different learning groups throughout the day, which will give each teacher the time to work in smaller groups. These groups allow for teachers to work with different students, giving opportunities for students to work in ways that work best for them, independently and with the teacher. We will be keeping parents and whānau up to date with their children’s work and learning with Seesaw and will be updating this regularly.

Te Mahuri will be eating together at break times to stay connected, and also be engaging in hauora class challenges each Friday as a way to release some energy by enjoying competing with each other.

I look forward to this year of growth and new beginnings and can’t wait to see what this year will bring.

Nga Mihi, Miss Ngatai
