Kererū is a Year 6, 7 & 8 Tuakana classroom. Students work with Miss Turner, their classroom teacher, to make their learning real, innovative and meaningful.

In Kererū, learning is about taking the reins from the teacher and for students to be responsible for their learning outcomes and progress.  Student agency, partnerships and being the driver of their own learning are important themes in our class. Our class is also digital based. Students can use a variety of digital tools, iPads, chromebooks and laptops, to locate, create and share their ideas, learning, achievements and knowledge.  Our classroom is focused on preparing students to participate in the 21st century and beyond with a variety of skills, tools and knowledge.

Everyone in Kererū is a leader.  Students are Whanau House Leaders, PB4L leaders, and help with school duties such as Breakfast in Schools, organising school events and Fruit Monitors.  Caring for our classroom, school environment and other members of our school is important to us as well. All students take the lead in their own learning.

Our aim is to make learning fun, challenging (we frequently put ourselves in the Learning Pit because that's where good learning happens!), upside down and right side up (so we think and wonder) and to get us where we need to be.

Come and be a part of our learning journey.
