WELCOME TO ROOM TIWAKAWAKA

Kia ora koutou

My name is Tracey Woods and I am pleased to be your child’s teacher this year (2024).

In 2023 I was the Year 2 teacher - Tui Class however; this year our school has two new entrant classes of which I will be teaching in one of them - Tiwakawaka Class 2024.  I am very pleased to be teaching 5 year olds and look forward to using my years of experience to facilitate, mentor and encourage children to improve on the teaching and learning that each child has experienced before starting school - ie: from parents, whanau and early childhood.

Our classroom culture and junior syndicate environment aims to encourage our students to practice basic morals and AROHA Values, to build positive relationships, be happy and focused in their learning, to become an inquisitive individual who will embrace every opportunity the school offers, and will always try new learning.  ‘Learning through Play’ is a big part of our Junior school philosophy and this helps develop the qualities we believe are necessary for our children to thrive.

I look forward to getting to know your child and meeting as many whanau as possible over the next term.  If you have any queries or information you would like to share regarding your child, please do not hesitate to contact me or the school office.

Ngaa mihi,

Whaea Tracey

Kia Ora Koutou katoa.

I am Psalms Kawau, I am a mama of 5, and was born and raised here in beautiful Taumarunui.

I am proud to have been a part of the awesome team at Turaki School and room Piwakwaka since Term 2 of 2023. This year, I am thrilled to be assisting the learning journey of our tamariki in the New Tiwakawaka class guided by Whaea Tracey.

My time at Turaki School so far has kindled a passion within me, inspiring me to pursue a career in primary education. This year, I embark on my journey to become a certified primary school teacher while still being able to be active in the classroom.

My interests involve all the arts, kapahaka, singing, and sports. What truly fuels my spirit is witnessing the transformative journey of children as they discover their self-belief, forge meaningful connections, and flourish in their unique interests.

I look forward to continuing to connect with all our children and whanau.
